Our time in Sydney flew by, and we soon found ourselves experiencing culture shock, if you could call it that, at the sudden change of venues. Brief summary: hot, red, and empty. The first photo of Ann is a view from the sidewalk out front of the airport, just to give an idea of all of the amenities surrounding it. We took a flight from Sydney to Ayer’s Rock, which is a remote area in the center of Australia. The Aboriginal name for where we were ultimately headed is Uluru, a massive rock protruding from the emptiness around it. We figured we should do it right while out here, so we’re camping for the next 3 nights. After getting set up at our first stop and having some lunch, we headed out to see Uluru with our group. We explored the area for a while, then drove a few miles away from Uluru so we could watch it shift hues as the sun set.
