The honeymoon has officially begun! We first took a flight from DFW to LAX, where we had a few extra minutes before the plane boarded, so we played around a little.
There’s nothing to show from the LAX layover in their international terminal because it was less than stellar trying to both get dinner as well as sort through the under construction maze to the very last terminal for our flight out. It was a stark contrast to Dallas’ pristine terminal D&E, but that was quickly forgotten when we boarded Quantas’ a380, or at least I think that was the plane type. It was amazingly huge, and amenity filled. We had killer seats on the absolute back row, which meant no one behind us and quick access to standing room/bathrooms in the back of the plane. We were prepared for a painful ~14 hour flight, but that was the most enjoyable flying experience in memory. It was smooth sailing from there.
Here’s our little hide away at the back of the plane near the exit door, which we were very careful around when taking photos.
And when chatting with some other passengers in the back of the plane stretching our legs, we got this picture snapped for us. I know we look tired, but considering how long we’d been awake at this point it’s not too shabby!
Quantas’ newer planes like the one we were on had some extra bonuses. On the way from LAX to Sydney, every seat had its own touchscreen tv/computer with tons, and we mean -tons-, of movies, tv shows, music, e-books and games on it. We were all mentally prepared for a painful flight, but it was just great. And check this out, they had a video camera in the tail of the plane, that at any time, you could go to on your computer screen and view. Here’s what the world looked like for a little bit from our location.
Oh, and on this flight also we have to give a shout out to a pair of photograpers out of California we are huge fans of. The image is found , or Nate and Jaclyn, were also going to Australia to host a workshop and shoot a wedding. It was totally awesome to get to meet them and we wish them the best during their next week in country!
Our last little leg of the journey was the jump over to Auckland, New Zealand. The countryside was breathtaking from the air, and we can’t wait to get started on our drive through it tomorrow!

But for now, it’s time to find the hotel, while driving on the left side of the road, using kilometers per hour, on tiny roads. It was a long journey and we are in a sleep deficit, so we’ll catch up with y’all soon!
