It’s weird how when you first move into a place you are all excited and can’t wait to get everything decorated and then about the time you get all your clothes and kitchen stuff unpacked so that you can function day to day, it’s time to go back to work. and before you know it months have gone by and there still isn’t anything up on the walls. I will admit that as I’ve moved a lot in the last few years, I have moved in and moved out of places and never got around to hanging things on the walls. When Bret and I moved into this apartment we had a bunch of plans for the walls. We’ve talked about many different things and yet the only room that really got completely finished right away was the garage, and our CrossFit wall.

Slowly but surely our visions for the rest of our apartment are starting to come about. One of my favorite things is the tree in the living room. Our plan started out as a shadow of a chandelier painted above the fire place. After long searches on the internet for the perfect one, somehow or another we came up with the idea for the tree. I really like it! I love how it wraps around to the front of the fireplace. I think we are going to put hooks on it so that people have a place to hang their scarves and coats when they come over. We aren’t completely done with it yet. We also want to paint some owls on the branches and birds carrying picture frames or maybe a flat screen TV above the fireplace (someday
But I’m really happy with it!
Here’s what it looks like in the front.
Now, the next project seems like we had been talking about 4-EVER, it is the chalkboard that we wanted to make task lists and help us stay organized. We got the idea when we stayed with some friends in Austin, TX over the Summer. Well we finally finished it and I LOVE it! It’s about 6 feet tall, (8 feet after being mounted on the window sill) So Bret’s task list goes at the top.
and that leaves me to the final project that we have going. Bret had an awesome idea to put up a vintage scrabble board as wall art so we got one from ebay and played a game of scrabble to get all the words spelled out. There was only one catch…. All the words had to be relevant to us somehow. So on this scrabble board, you’ll find the location of our first date, things we do all the time, songs, stuff like that. It was totally fun and makes it really cool and personal.
