Harrison turned one year old on August 1st. Renee threw a great party complete with bubble machines, swimming, and of course CAKE! Renee put to good use the cake decorating class we took last winter. We are going to do the advanced class in september and I can’t wait to get back into it! In the mean time I did get to help Renee out a little with this one.
I remember when I was little my mom used to decorate all of our cakes. I NEVER understood all the time and effort that was involved in decorating cakes until Renee and I took that class. Now I’m amazed by my mom when I look back on all the holly hobby, Raggedy Ann, and yes even strawberry shortcake cakes. Thanks mom!
What fun is Cake without a little Blue Bell Ice Cream?!

Renee threw such a great party for all the kids! She had all these bubble machines everywhere. The whole party reminded me of all the underwater scenes in “The Little Mermaid”

And at last the birthday boy got to enjoy his cake! Renee had made him his own special piece with white icing instead of blue (smart move, Renee!:) )
Harrison loved it so much. He shoveled it in one fistful after another. Finally they took part of it away so that he would not make himself sick. They way I see it, Cake should not be limited on one’s birthday and everyone knows there are no such things as calories or sugar on your birthday! But, since I was not the one that would be handling a baby with an upset stomach, I was overruled.
