We're illuminare photography + cinematography and this blog/website serves as our initial meeting ground, allowing you to get to know us and our work a little better. While we have a portfolio section and frequently post blog highlights from our weddings and portrait shoots, we also keep the blog rolling with a bunch of various photos and videos that we do for ourselves when we're out just having a good time. When shooting The Hefner Family photos, highlighting the adorable Hudson’s 1st year, we thought it’d be fun to also do a little family video for them. Fully loaded with jungle gym and swimming pool fun, here it is!

The time for my niece, Jilllian’s 18 month portraits is here! Bret and I had Jillian all to ourselves for a whole day (and night). We went shoe shopping, grocery shopping, we played in the yard, and had time for a few portraits. I think we did just about everything under the sun, and believe me at 105 degrees it feels like you are literally right under the sun! Cindy packed Jillian a super cute little outfit complete with the cutest little pink Chucks, so that we could get some photos while we were babysitting. Our plan was to get some portraits in in the morning, but it was so hot that we could barely get this normally very happy girl to crack a smile. That is, until we said the magic word. No, it wasn’t please, it was “Swimming” As soon as Bret said that word her whole face lit up and she pointed at the water saying “pool, pool!” I convinced her to change out of her little 50′s style outfit and into an even cuter bathing suit. We figured, why should the photo shoot stop now, she’s just starting to enjoy herself! I’m so glad we didn’t put the cameras away, because the results are probably my favorite Jillian photos yet!

August 18, 2010 - 11:38 am - Ok hard as it is I have to say I have a favorite pic. While I abolutely love the full face smile that is pure Jilly, the pic of her being sprayed by the watering can with her eyes closed and her mouth all puckered is WONDERFUL. Course Pigtails on the little wooden bench, with the cutest smile ..... Jilly is the perfect subject and with Ann's perfect eye.......how can you loose?

While in Gulf Shores in May, my Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill celebrated 20 years of marriage by renewing their wedding vows on the beach. My Aunt Mary was a beautiful bride 20 years ago, but she was absolutely stunning on her 20th anniversary. With their faces glowing and “big ol hearts dancing in their eyes” they pledged their love for each other once again in a perfect sunset beach ceremony. It was truly moving to see. Their love for each other is still just as strong as it was when they got married and I had tears in my eyes while looking through the photos and seeing the love and joy that radiated through them.
Aunt Mary’s best friend and maid of honor (who she’s known for as long as I can remember) Shirley, was there with her husband Lyn. They were also a very sweet couple!

Ok, so I’m a little behind in my posting, but I had to share with you this beautiful family. Crystal and John are the sweetest parents and Little Aidan is so easy to dote over. Bret and I had a blast photographing them in their lovely uptown home.
